On February 21, 2008, The Global Fund for Children was selected as one of 17 winners of the first-ever Digital Media and Learning (DML) Competition, funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and administered by HASTAC (Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory)
GFC’s project, Using Digital Technology to Extend Grassroots Knowledge, will strengthen the organization’s capacity to capture, share, and promote the knowledge and best practices of GFC’s more than 300 innovative grassroots partners around the world. This knowledge is shared through blogs, photographs, audio podcasts, and videos.
With the DML award, GFC is pursuing innovative ways to capture and share the voices of grassroots practitioners serving vulnerable children around the world. GFC is utilizing a variety of digital media tools to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, thereby strengthening its network of groups and individuals working to ensure the dignity of children worldwide.
