Boys’ and Girls’ Distinct Needs
Throughout its programs, GFC recognizes the unique needs of boys and girls and the different issues they face.
Our work on the distinct needs of boys and young men focuses on the powerful negative pull on marginalized boys and young men toward street and domestic violence, substance abuse, and conflict with the law, and the need for positive alternatives. Girls and young women face gender-related issues and challenges such as discrimination in educational and professional opportunities, sexual trafficking and exploitation, violence, and lack of self-determination.
GFC recognizes the importance of these contextual factors and supports the development of tailored responses by grantee partners. We also include an explicit gender perspective in our knowledge generation and dissemination efforts.
