Washington, DC – It is with great sadness that The Global Fund for Children announces the passing of Sonia Pierre, the founder and director of our grantee partner MUDHA (Movimiento de Mujeres Dominico-Haitianas) on December 4, 2011. Our associate program officer for Brazil and the Caribbean, Sandra Macías del Villar, saw Sonia’s work firsthand during her recent visit to the Dominican Republic, and many of our staff members had the honor of meeting Sonia only a few weeks ago at GFC’s office in Washington, DC. We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sonia Pierre and express our continued support for MUDHA.

This video highlights Sonia Pierre’s visit to The Global Fund for Children in November 2011.
