Pamela Kola, 2008 International Fellow

Pamela Kola is the international fellow at The Global Fund for Children. She is a founder and the executive director of the Centre for Research, Communication and Gender in Early Childhood Development (CRECHE), a nongovernmental organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a doctorate in child psychology from Arizona University in the U.S.A., a bachelors degree in English, French and History from the University of Nairobi – Kenya and a diploma in Education Psychology and Curriculum Development from Leicester University, England. She has certificates in other disciplines including gender, women in development, leadership and management.

Pamela is a consultant and researcher and is experienced in working directly with children and communities. She has completed evaluations for several national and international organizations. She sits on a number of advisory committees in Kenya and has been involved in planning and policy formulation for early childhood education, orphans and vulnerable children. She has also helped develop alternative comprehensive, culturally appropriate ways of addressing early childhood education, care, and development.

Pamela is the author of many children’s storybooks, some of which have been translated into Kiswahili and Japanese.

Nicholas Kaufmann, 2007 International Fellow

Nicholas Kaufmann is The Global Fund for Children’s 2007 International Fellow, working on knowledge management and program integration for addressing the distinctive needs of vulnerable boys. His fellowship follows positions at the Pan American Health Organization and the nongovernmental organization Salud y Género A.C. in Mexico. In Mexico, Nicholas focused on innovative community-based interventions targeting boys and young men. Previously, he worked at the headquarters of the World Health Organization and the International Labor Organization on youth-related technical assistance programs.

Nicholas has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and a master’s in psychology from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. In addition, he holds various international diplomas covering parenthood, gender equity, and young women’s and men’s health and development. Nicholas is fluent in French and Spanish and conversant in German.

Sonali Ojha, 2006 International Fellow

Sonali Ojha is The Global Fund for Children's 2006 international fellow. She is the founder and director of Dreamcatchers Foundation, a nonprofit based in Mumbai, India, that guides young people with histories of violence and trauma to discover their power to heal and rebuild their own lives and those of community members. Sonali serves on the boards of Point of View, a Mumbai-based organization that uses media to advocate the point of view of women, and Thoughtshop Foundation, a social communication organization based in Kolkata, India. She is on the advisory boards of Butterflyworks in the Netherlands and ArtSewa in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Sonali received a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Xaviers College in Mumbai and a post-graduate degree in international studies from the School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy. She is an Ashoka fellow and has worked on many consultancies with both local NGOs and international organizations such as UNICEF, the Ford Foundation, and Railway Children UK. She is fluent in English and Hindi and conversant in Nepali and Bengali.
